Rocket
Helmet A
Poser-ready version of
the Rocketeer (c) helmet based on the original design by author and artist
Dave
Stevens and immortalized in the great and underappreciated movie,
The Rocketeer. Size 148Kb. |

Candy
Cane This is a Carrara .CAR file but for everyone else, I have included the
OBJ and MTL files as well. The stripes are actually geometry so that I could get tighter striping
and so I could change the stripe colours by changing the texture colour only. This model has a high
polygon count and should deform smoothly. Size 290Kb. |

Rocket
Flier "Nothing's as Fast a Rocket!"
Rocket Jockeys, enjoy your own little rocket. This
Poser-ready detailed wagon is fully poseable and fully textured. It is a high-resolution
model with detailed modelling down to the individual nuts and bolts. It is built for detailed
close-up illustrations/still images, but if you have the iron, its efficient use of polygons allows
it to be used for animation where detail counts. Inspired by those
little red wagons. Size 1.9Mb. |

Home
Movies: Water I am planning on making
several brief animations to introduce my home movies and this was one design. This turned out essentially
the way I imagined it. The sound capabilities of my video dubbing software are limited so the sound is
rough. The waves and wavey words are distorted by Anything Grooves and the grass was created with
Anything Grows plug-in, both plug-ins are by Digital
Carvers Guild.

Bugs Landing
Originally this was a subdivision surfaces
tutorial from 3D World magazine for 3DSMax version 5. But as the
article said, you should be able to do it in any modern 3D app, like Carrara 3. I created the model to test out
the new shading domain features of the subdivision surfaces in the vertex modeller, and the author of the
tutorial was right, it was easy. I then thought it would make a cute animation and I proceeded to whip up this
10 second gag.

Bugs Walking
This sequel to Bugs
Landing was originally started to test out the new Inverse Kinematics (IK) tools in Carrara 4. I say
new because they were new when I started the animation. They were a vast improvement over the IK solution in
Carrara 3. The whole thing took about three evenings to animate except those evenings were separated by a
two year time span.

Merry Christmas Snow This was originally
another Home Movies title movie for my winter season home movies. I changed the letters to make a peaceful
Christmas message. I still view this one as a work in progress as there are a few glitches I want to fix. I was
after the same style as the old Rankin-Bass Christmas specials with the stylized simplistic trees and fanciful
snowflakes.

The Millenium Dragon Speaks
Inspired by the Robert Munsch and Michael
Martchenko book, The Paper Bag Princess, this was originally a quick test piece to demonstrate to
my relatives how easy it was to generate character animation using a sound file,
DAZ Mimic and
Poser. Mimic did the basic lip-sync and then I corrected and emphasized the facial movments and
added the body language. This animation was a natural to bring into
Carrara Studio with the Transposer plug-in. The final render
used Global illumination and motion blur. The sound was added back in and background sound was added in
Magix Movie Edit Pro 2004.

Gelatinous Blob
When testing the
Transposer plug-in for Carrara Studio, I wanted to do
something which would be difficult to do in Poser. This
animation includes DAZ's Michael 2 animated in
Poser and imported using the
Transposer plug-in. The sphere is a deformed primitive, the bubbles
are free particles, a fog primitive adds some volume to the blob, and the background is made up of simple
cube primitives with procedural textures. The animation uses Global illumination but without caustics.
The sound was added in Magix Movie Edit Pro 2004. It was very
quick and easy to do.
