The Tools That I Use

I work in a variety of media:

Traditional Media:

For black and white illustrations, I use a quill pen and a watercolour 00 or 01 brush over a pencil drawing on acid free 110 lb smooth finish paper.
My colour illustrations are done either as watercolours or more commonly as acrylics on gessoed masonite. Some more recent illustrations have been done entirely on computer.

Software:

I used RayDream Studio 5 and now its successor Carrara Studio as well as Amapi for all my 3D illustration. They are affordable, simple to use and powerful.
I also rely on the very useful extensions for Carrara Studio by The Digital Carvers Guild and ZMorphics.
I use Poser as a figure reference and for illustration.
I use CorelDraw! and Photopaint for my other imaging needs.
To get all my images ready for the web and for final touch up, I use PMView.
To create the web pages themselves I used Dreamweaver and Netscape Composer to do the bulk of the setup work. The rest of the site and all maintenance is hand-coded using notepad.

Hardware:

I use a PC that I have upgraded piece by piece over the years.
I use a Wacom tablet and a regular mouse.
I used a Relisys Avec S3 scanner initially and then eventually upgraded to a Canon USB Scanner.
